Our speaker, Jonathan Szucs, is steeped in international trade experience, being Vice Chair of the National Association of District Export Councils and Vice Chair of the North Carolina District Export Council, in addition to being President of Advanced Superabrasives Inc. of Madison County.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced Advanced Superabrasives one of 13 winners of the 2020 Governor’s Export Awards, ranging from a small wooden-boat builder to the one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world.

According to Governor Cooper, “These diverse companies raise the profile of North Carolina-made products around the world, promoting excellence in goods and services made possible by the exceptional workforce in our state. Today, we honor these companies for the way their exports promote the North Carolina economy, their grit during tough economic times and the more than 412,000 jobs they support state-wide.”
Jonathan’s presentation to CWTA will cover Trade Policy Updates including Vital Elements of Modern Trade Agreements, Global Trade and Exporting Post COVID-19, Supply Chain Management, Opportunities in Africa, Look North to Canada, The Future of US-China Relationship, Indo-Pacific Trade, and Southbound Trade Initiative.
He will also highlight Export Opportunities and Challenges addressing EXIM Bank and SBA Programs to assist Exporters, Virtual Gold Keys and Trade Shows, DEC Partnerships with Like-Minded Organizations, and Using DEC Resources to Further Exports, DEC Congressional Outreach, Innovative DEC Approaches, and Challenges in Exporting for Government Contractors.
This program should be of interest to All Exporters and Business Leaders!

Jonathan Szucs, Vice Chair of the National Association of District Export Councils, Vice Chair of the North Carolina District Export Council, and President of Advanced Superabrasives Inc.
Jonathan Szucs is a manufacturer and an exporter. He is the current President of Advanced Superabrasives Inc. (ASI) and the current Vice Chair of the National Association of District Export Councils. Jonathan also serves as the Vice Chair for the North Carolina District Export Council.
Under Jonathan’s leadership in successfully developing global distributors, Advanced Superabrasives earned the 2013 Presidential “E” Award for Exporting Excellence. In 2019, the Small Business Administration awarded Advanced Superabrasives its North Carolina Small Business Exporter of the Year Award. And in 2020, Governor Cooper awarded Advanced Superabrasives the “Governor’s Award of Excellence in Exporting.”
Jonathan received his Electrical and Computer Engineering Degree from Western Carolina University. Upon earning his degree, he joined Advanced Superabrasives as an Engineer and quickly grew to love exporting and traveling. In June of 2018, the Carolina World Trade Association awarded Jonathan their Leadership in International Commerce award. One of his biggest achievements is the exporting of a Superabrasive wheel to Mars on the Curiosity Rover.
Jonathan currently spearheads all new markets for ASI and is in charge of all international sales teams that ASI is forming. As part of his duties, Jonathan is also in charge of training new “Sales Engineers” in the art of international business for ASI. As part of Jonathan’s drive to improve Western North Carolina, he is also a member of Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy board for Land of Sky.
